dasos.jpg    Fraksos forest is close to Lessini village, west of the delta of Acheloos river and belongs to the National Park of Messolonghi - Etoliko. Rare in its kind, Fraksos forest forest was declared in 1985, a preserved Monument of Nature. Today its expanse reaches 500 acres approximately and is considered to be a flora and fauna paradise. It is a varied landscape with many species, plants andtrees.

   It hosts a significant number of birds and the area abounds with reptiles and amphibians. Fraksos forest is one of the most vital forest ecosystems throughout Greece characterized by a global scientific interest because of its ecological and biological value. It is a forest of high botanic, aesthetic and geographical interest with an unrivaled natural beauty which undoubtedly manages to impress anyone who comes to visit it.

  Evinos or Fidaris,crosses a 92 km long route, starting from Vardousia to end at the Gulf of Patras, between Evinochori and Kryoneri. According to Greek mythology the river took its name from King Evinos who was drowned in its waters.

 

  Evinos River is an ideal sport for sporting activities such as canoe kayak and rafting. Moreover, it is considered to be an ecosystem of great environmental value, since a great amount of fish and amphibians live in its waters, and also given its lush riverside vegetation.
