It is nothing more than a large volume of limestone with 917 m. height and for that reason it has been a very popular destination for climbing lovers, since it is considered to be one of the best climbing areas because of its rocks quality.
In ancient times the mountain went by the name of “Halkeia” while today they also call it the "Holy Mountain" of Etolia, given that during the Byzantine era many ascetic monks used to live there. Today, one can go and visit the temples, caves, ruins of churches and ascetic centers that still exist in the region.
