Our town has its own airport, where the Aero Club of Messolonghi operates. Sky and cloud lovers, are given the opportunity of taking an aerial tour over the city of Messolongi, with a two-seater plane and the Aero Club pilots, in order to explore the beauties of our city from above. Experienced pilots of the Aero Club will offer you a flight experience full of comfort and safety to the most hidden and fantastic places of the region.
During the flight you will be able to enjoy the panoramic views of the incomparable beauty of the expanded municipality of Messolonghi, admire the ecosystem of the lagoon in all its glory and finally see all the archaeological sites and places of tourist interest.
With the symbolic amount of 50 Euros, for the aircrafts’ fuel and maintenance, you can enjoy a flight of about 30-40 minutes duration and make sure that you will be investing in a life experience.

Oiniades is an Acarnanian ancient city of the 5th century, 25 km. west of Messolonghi, near
Katohi village, and is one of the most important archaeological sites of Etoloakarnania.
Built near the mouth of Acheloos river, it was a coast city and one of the Echinades Islands. Rumor has it that the city took its name from the Etolian king Aeneas, while during the Middle Ages it went by the name Trikardokastro, as also called the ruins of the ancient city walls today.
Among the most important findings of the area is the ancient wall, which has survived to date and has 14 gates, along with the theater, which has an audience seating capacity of 3,000 persons and where the Festival of Ancient Theatre at Oiniades is annually held.
The lagoon of Messolonghi offers a variety of relaxing activities, one of which is the recreational fisheries or angling. Its wetland is an excellent fishing spot that will delight any aspiring amateur fisherman.
For locals fishing has always been considered as an exciting activity in order to pass their spare time. You will find many beautiful natural spots around the lagoon, where you can go fishing while simultaneously enjoying the beauty of the landscape’s surroundings.
